UMKM Potentially Absorb Many Workers

Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) should be arranged well by Jakarta Provincial Government. Because the sector potentially absorb much workers.

That's why it needs policy strategy in PKL empowerment and arrangement

"Currently Jakarta Population is quite high and predicted in 2030 could be up to 13 million household. Micro small enterprises is very required to sustain economic," said Head of Jakarta Research Council, Irawadi Jamaran during the discussion of policy strategy for empowerment and arrangement of street vendors, Thursday (11/26).

Many street vendors in Jakarta are because the number or urbanization entering the capital is not comparable with the number of new job vacancies. "That's why it needs policy strategy in PKL empowerment and arrangement. So that the foods they sell are also healthy and affordable," he told.

DRD Expected to Make PKL Arrangement Concept

He uttered if street vendors in Jakarta are arranged well they will surely not lose the competitive with the same vendors abroad. "It's just tightening the rules and the trading location should be concerned so that will not give any trouble for others," he stated.
